Bordertown Lives

When I was in high school, I spend my summers in the stacks at the Jones Creek Library. Air conditioning and endless books could be had a mere four blocks from home in the Baton Rouge heat. I finished the scifi and fantasy shelves, tore through the serial novels, and then started on the story collections in Young Adult non-fiction.

Those were the best. Jane Yolen, Ellen Datlow, Terri Windling, and Martin Greenberg-edited collections, The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror… and then I found a copy of Borderland on the shelves in YA and went back for seconds and thirds. I finished the stories, found the other collections, then went looking for the author's full-length novels.

I have my own dog-eared copies of Finder and Elsewhere, and my ten-year-old daughter made off with Nevernever sometime last year. She asked if there were any more stories to read, and now the answer is yes. They're bringing it back, with fresh authors and stories and ebook publication of their out-of-print collections, just in time for my daughter to enjoy it.
