Perfect Pie Crust

This Thanksgiving, I combined a few pie dough recipes and came up with one that I really liked. Sweet, flakey, and supremely delicious.

Ingredients

(ingredients)* %(amount)4 C% %(ingredient)flour% * %(amount)4 T% %(ingredient)sugar% * %(amount)1 ts% %(ingredient)salt% * %(amount)1 C% %(ingredient)solid vegetable shortening% * %(amount)1 C% %(ingredient)butter% * %(amount)2 C% %(ingredient)ice water, mixed with% * %(amount)2 T% %(ingredient)vinegar%

Procedure

(procedure)# Mix flour, sugar, and salt together with a fork. Rub in shortening and butter with a sharp knife or pastry blender.

Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the mixture comes together, between 12-14 tablespoons.

Chill before use. Brush finished crust edges with milk before baking.
